Baby platypus have such soft velvety fur. These are unusual animals from Australia. When early colonizers of Australia reported on platypuses, these animals were thought to be an elaborate fraud. Platypus are the only mammals that lay eggs rather than give birth to young, they have bills like a duck, tails like a beaver and feet like an otter. Platypuses are also the only venomous mammal. The male platypus has a spur on its hind foot that can deliver venom that causes significant pain to humans. Thankfully they are now protected and no longer killed for their fur. How could anyone kill them for their fur?!? They need it.
How cute are you little guys!! Meerkats are the cutest animal this week for sure!!
Oh what a poor tired dog! Maybe his little pink tongue can help him get into bed? No, it is as tired as the rest of the pug and has gone to sleep on the floor!
This is the second in our series of cute dogs dressed as other animals, after our leprechaun – this funny picture. But how could this little thing ever be a wicked witch? She looks more like Toto, to me.
If you like cute pictures of animals, you can’t do much better than a fennec fox. With their big ears, and affectionate nature, who wouldn’t want one of these little guys greeting them in the morning?
No! It’s a pancake on a silly guinea pig!
“What have you got?” Said three cute curious hamsters to the baby hamster. “A little nut!” Said the baby, “Yum!”
This smiling cat reaally wants his photo taken. Cute kitteh!
These are pictures of a seven day old La Plata river dolphin who has been rescued in Uruguay. She is pictured with the director of SOS Rescate de Fauna Marina rehabilitation center, Mr Richard Tesore. We think the spray around the director’s head reminds us that he is something of an angel for animals in need. Little Miss La Plata needed some help, she is so young her umbilical cord was still attached! She has been safely transported to the SOS center. You can read more about Little Miss here, and see more pics too – so cute!
“Stop it.” said Gerbil One to Gerbil Two. “Stop what?” said Gerbil Two. “Stop gossiping.” said Gerbil One, “I can hear you.” “Can’t” said Gerbil Two. “Can’t what?” “Can’t stop.” “Yes you can. It’s part of a decision to be a nice gerbil. You should.” said Gerbil One. “So Bossy!!!” cried Gerbil Two, “You just don’t understand.” “I think all this arguing is a result of me forcing your noses too close together” said Large Overarching Human. “Yes!!” cried both gerbils together!
[we are guessing these are gerbils but we are also guessing we are wrong, please let us know!!]
