Baby platypus have such soft velvety fur. These are unusual animals from Australia. When early colonizers of Australia reported on platypuses, these animals were thought to be an elaborate fraud. Platypus are the only mammals that lay eggs rather than give birth to young, they have bills like a duck, tails like a beaver and feet like an otter. Platypuses are also the only venomous mammal. The male platypus has a spur on its hind foot that can deliver venom that causes significant pain to humans. Thankfully they are now protected and no longer killed for their fur. How could anyone kill them for their fur?!? They need it.

These two cats in love had a rough patch when one of them thought the other one had stolen some of her fish. But the other one didn’t steal it, he was really down at the office all the time. They made up really quickly. The cats really love each other and – in the end – the best thing in life is a hug from a cat that you love and is just like yourself.

A Mexican Mariachi band were performing at a wedding at Mystic Aquarium, Connecticut. As they were playing, they realized that the aquarium’s white beluga whale had came down to listen. They didn’t know if it was the moving costumes, the beat, or the fact that the trumpet sounds a little like a whale song – but the beluga was transfixed, so they left the party and serenaded the listening animal.
It looks like he’s smiling the whole time, and the humans are also pretty cute for playing for him. So sweet – and a great video to pick up your day.
